Bas Voesenek

Bas Voesenek joined the NeuroD group as a PhD student in November 2022. Previously, he studied Biomedical Sciences (Bsc) and Neuroscience and Cognition (Msc) in Utrecht, where he got interested in the brain and neurodegenerative diseases. During his internships, he worked with different microscopy techniques and learned how to automate the analysis of live imaging data. In his PhD project, Bas aims to develop a novel pipeline to study mutations in APP using hiPSC-derived models. He will generate 3D organoids as well as develop scripts to automatically analyze imaging data. He will apply this novel pipeline to investigate a new APP mutation found in the LUMC, which causes a phenotype that is never seen with mutations in this gene before.
